Wellness industry players sign ‘transformative partnership’

HEALTHLAND and Inner Peace Spa Consultancy & Academy, two renowned brands in the wellness industry, signed a collaboration via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sept 20.

Both companies stated that the partnership signifies a significant achievement for them and “heralds the dawn of innovative advancements in healthcare services, poised to redefine the healthcare and wellness landscape”.

HealthLand’s head of innovation Max Phoo emphasised the forthcoming 10-year anniversary, which is less than three months away, as a testament to HealthLand’s evolution over the past decade. He stated: “This transformation symbolises our evolution over the last decade, as we’ve strived to redefine and revolutionise the wellness industry. We’ve grown to become your trusted family wellness centre, and it has taken us a decade of dedication and hard work to earn that trust.”

Today, HealthLand has 32 outlets, with the addition of 10 new establishments this year. Still, it acknowledges that the journey is far from over.

Inner Peace Spa Consultancy & Academy, calling itself as the premier education provider in the Malaysian spa and wellness industry, “is committed to fostering an appreciation for Bornean cultures within the wellness and health sector”. The academy conducts spa and wellness workshops, with a particular emphasis on imparting knowledge to the youth, inspiring them to embark on careers within the wellness and health industry.

Its founder and head of training Alyssa Lim emphasised the collaborative vision, stating: “Together, we work towards a Malaysian business empowered by the Malaysian workforce. This is not just about training, but about nurturing local talent, creating jobs, and supporting our community.”

Both companies pointed out a pivotal aspect of the partnership – the introduction of “Sinaran”, which in Malay signifies radiance, a concept that resonates deeply with the brand’s logo design and ethos. “

“Sinaran is poised to shed light on the timeless benefits of ‘Urutan Malaysia’, with these treatments forming the hallmark offerings of the brand. As pioneers in the wellness industry and as Malaysians, both organisations hold a steadfast belief in the duty to share the marvels of Urutan Malaysia with the world.

“Recognising that success is intrinsically tied to the dedication of our staff, we jointly commit to providing unparalleled service while upholding Malaysia’s core values.”

The companies explained that Urutan Malaysia refers to the traditional Malay massage, an ancient technique complemented with indigenous knowledge of herbal remedies. “The holistic therapy promotes relaxation, relieves muscle tension and enhances overall well-being through the skilled use of hands and herbal preparations”.

RM means ‘raining money’ for Penang manager, Sarawak retiree

TWO grand prize winners struck it big in the recent Magnum Life and Magnum 4D Jackpot Gold games respectively, achieving their life-long dreams of financial freedom.

It was a special “9.9-day” win for a manager from Penang, who won a staggering RM1,000 every single day for the next 20 years on Sept 9, while a 59-year-old retiree from Kuching won RM8.97 million in the Magnum 4D Jackpot Gold draw on Aug 19.

In an extraordinary turn of events, a manager of a local property company’s life took an amazing turn when he purchased a RM10 Lucky Pick Magnum Life ticket on Sept 9, after being prompted by the Magnum 4D outlet’s frontliners to view two lucky pick tickets displayed at the outlet’s counter window.

He was pleasantly surprised that one of the tickets had the exact time stamp that coincided with his time of birth, immediately having a gut feeling that this ticket was destined to change his life forever. Trusting his instincts, he bought that lucky pick ticket at a Magnum 4D’s Raja Uda outlet in Butterworth, Penang.

It was the best decision he ever made as the numbers 3, 4, 6, 7, 26, 28, 29, and 34 were the winning Magnum Life combination drawn for Draw ID 925/23.

The lucky winner has always been diligent about checking his Magnum 4D tickets through the MyMagnum 4D app, a habit he developed after a friend recommended downloading the app. On that fateful evening, his heart raced as he received a notification that declared him as the grand prize winner.

“Upon receiving the notification, I was so excited, and filled with overwhelming happiness and joy. It’s truly a dream come true after years of hoping to become a millionaire; it was a lucky pick ticket after all, and fate indeed had lucky plans for me. I also thank the outlet frontliner for pointing out the tickets to me.

“I’m extremely grateful that her actions changed my life forever. I wish I signed up as an M Premium member on the MyMagnum 4D app. If I did, I would have won an additional RM100,000 on top of my Magnum Grand Prize winnings for scanning my ticket before the draw. I will definitely sign up now. You never know, I might get a second chance at winning Magnum Life again.”

When asked about his plans, he expressed his intention to share his new-found wealth with his siblings. Now, he also intends to purchase a new car and a new home, but his heart is also set on making a difference in the lives of those in need through generous donations. “Where there is hope, there is always a way,” he said.

In another awe-inspiring turn of events, a 59-year-old from Kuching struck gold, winning a staggering RM8.97 million in the Magnum 4D Jackpot Gold draw on Aug 19.

The retiree claimed that his winning numbers, 395630+17, held a “profound significance” for him – last year, he lost his beloved mother and her hospital bed number 395630 became the inspiration for his selection. Combined with the digit 17, her birthday date, it was a winning formula that led to his extraordinary victory.

“I feel my mother’s love through this win. It was indeed a suspenseful night waiting for the results. Upon checking Magnum 4D’s website, I realised my numbers had struck gold. I believe it was my mother’s love that guided me to this win. It felt like a dream, and I couldn't sleep from all the excitement,” the winner said.

With RM8.97 million in his pocket, he plans to enjoy his retirement fully by travelling the world, buying a luxurious car, investing in real estate, and making generous charitable donations.

A Magnum 4D representative said: “Both wins are a testament that inspiration and luck can come from anywhere. These wins truly show that life-changing moments and dreams do come true. Congratulations to both winners on their incredible achievements!”

MagnumCares assist accident victim schoolboy

THE MagnumCares “Cepat-Cepat Tolong” programme recently contributed to the medical needs of accident victim U. Harinesh from Gambang, Pahang.

The eight-year-old boy was involved in an accident on April 25, when he was a pillion rider on a motorcycle. His left leg was severely injured when it got into the moving rear wheel of the motorcycle. His calcaneum (often called “heel”) was fractured too, in the mishap.

Since then, he has not been able to stand and walk with the injured leg, unless he uses crutches. He has to go for a corrective surgery and that will cost RM6,620, according to his parents.

His father is 54-years-old and works as a barber. Harinesh is the eldest of four siblings. His mother is unemployed and stays at home to take care of the family. The family’s income is barely enough to support their living expenses.

The Cepat-Cepat Tolong programme, through its Magnum East Coast & Selangor vice-president (regional head) Lim See Chin, presented a cash donation of RM 2,000 to Harinesh recently. Also present was Pahang Exco member Sim Chon Siang.

Lim said the MagnumCares “Cepat-Cepat Tolong” (CCT) programme aims to improve the well-being of the underprivileged community nationwide. “Whether it is providing aid to victims of natural disasters or donating to patients in need of medical financial aid, CCT believes that speediness in rendering help when it is needed most makes all the difference.”

CCT is part of the Magnum Group’s on-going corporate social responsibility initiatives, aimed at providing meaningful impact and immediate aid to victims of natural disasters.

The programme’s core philosophy revolves around proactive outreach and swift action during emergency situations, believing that rendering help when it is needed the most can make all the difference in the lives of those in need.

Lifebuoy unveils first-ever vitamin body wash in Malaysia

UNILEVER unveiled its latest advance in the realm of daily hygiene with the launch of its new antibacterial formula, Lifebuoy Multivitamins+. The company’s latest body wash and hand wash “ensures unparalleled germ protection for the entire family”.

It stated that, infused with vitamins B3, C and E, the new formula works double-duty in supporting the skin’s natural defence against bacteria by improving skin protection and skin health properties in addition to killing germs, redefining how we think about hygiene.

“Vitamin-infused skincare is not a new concept, but it has not yet caught on in the hygiene care category. Often seen as only basic hygiene products, body wash and hand wash are the most underestimated skincare items in our daily hygiene routine. That is about to change as the first wave of Lifebuoy Multivitamins+ products hit Malaysian shelves.

“Skin is our body’s first barrier against infection-causing germs from our surroundings. This antimicrobial function of the skin barrier is supported by an adequate supply of micronutrients, including vitamins. Some vitamins can be absorbed by the skin, which is why many skincare products contain vitamins as added ingredients.”

At the launch of Lifebuoy Multivitamins+ in Petaling Jaya on Sept 12, event guest Dr Malar Santhi said hygiene products such as body wash and hand wash interact with our skin multiple times a day, every day. Therefore, looking out for cleansers that contain vitamins could give our skin an extra boost to fight germs.

How exactly do multivitamin properties help fight infection?

“Our skin naturally produces antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) in sweat and sebum. They function like tiny soldiers that our body sends out to fight harmful germs that try to enter our skin. By acting as antioxidants, vitamins B3, C, and E guard the skin barrier against free radicals that can interfere with AMP production,” said Dr Malar.

“Furthermore, vitamins C and B3 are also known to promote a healthy skin barrier. Blended with other skin health ingredients, these vitamins complement the skin’s natural defences against irritants and germs, offering a huge potential to help improve hygiene and combat preventable diseases.”

Unilever said Lifebuoy Multivitamins+ is scientifically proven to provide 10 times stronger germ protection than soap formula without active antibacterial ingredients, killing 99.9% of germs. It is also dermatologically tested for skin compatibility and clinically proven suitable for everyday use, leaving your skin feeling healthy and clean after every wash.

Celebrating the launch, Unilever Malaysia head and Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand personal care lead Lenny Chuah said: “With a steadfast commitment to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of millions of Malaysians, we are constantly evolving our formula and raising the bar to foster healthier lives as this is a journey with no end goal. This is why Lifebuoy is the world’s number one hygiene soap brand.

“With our last revamp announced just five years ago in 2018, today’s launch that ushers Lifebuoy into a new era of hygiene and germ protection, stands as our testament. After all, it is our mission to ensure there is no loss of life due to preventable infections.”

She added that since 1894, Lifebuoy’s mission has remained as clear as ever: to be the people’s and families’ partner in health and make hygiene a simple part of everyday routines. Rooted in decades of research, experience, and heritage, Lifebuoy is now a household icon, chosen and preferred by families.

Watson Malaysia was the official partner of the launch. Its managing director Caryn Loh said: “We are dedicated to providing a diverse array of reliable personal care choices for our customers and families across Malaysia. This is why this occasion holds a significant place in our hearts, as it not only marks our long-standing collaboration with Lifebuoy but also symbolises our shared journey towards a healthier community.”

The new Lifebuoy Multivitamins+ comes in six body wash variants – Total 10, Gentle Skin Care, Lemon Fresh, Cool Fresh, Vita Protect, and Moisture Plus; and four hand wash variants – Total Protect, Activ Fresh, Gentle Skin Care, and Lemon Fresh. Suitable for kids aged three and above. They are available at all retailers nationwide.

Thank OPPO for digitally empowering senior citizens

AS part of its continuous effort to see everyone digitally empowered and equipped with technology know-how, while anchored by its belief in “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World’, consumer electronics manufacturer OPPO organised a smartphone photography workshop held exclusively for senior citizens.

The session, held in September in partnership with Universiti Sains Malaysia’s “Bengkel Teknologi Senior” (Senior Technology Workshop), saw OPPO providing 19 senior citizens with the opportunity to upskill and pursue creativity through a smartphone photography masterclass, which included modules of shooting true-to-life portraits as well as bokeh photographs using OPPO Reno10 Pro+5G smartphones.

OPPO marketing manager Monica Qin said the company firmly believes that everyone has boundless potential and creativity when given the right tools and opportunities. “And we are hoping to unearth this skillset amongst senior citizens, who are often left behind in an increasingly digital world. Through the OPPO Reno10 Pro+5G, the senior citizens can develop their interest in photography which will allow them to snap precious moments with their family and friends.”

The Reno10 Pro+5G smartphone takes ultra-clear pictures in any and every situation, all thanks to the help of its “industry-leading” flagship camera system, enabling the senior citizens to capture natural and intimate portraits with their family and friends without having to compromise on quality.

Capturing the essence of portrait photography, the senior citizens were able to snap precious moments using the OPPO Reno10 Pro+5G Series’ 64 megapixel telephoto portrait and Pro Portrait Mode which greatly enhanced the portrait-taking experience.

For participant Wan Farhah, the workshop masterclass is one way she is able to explore boundless creativity and pursue a hobby and interest that is near and dear to her.

“The OPPO Golden Photography workshop gave us a good understanding on how to use the telephoto portrait camera on our smartphones. I had so much fun, especially during the walkabout tour that I wished the session was a little longer.

“I will be on a lookout on for the next workshop and this time, hopefully we would also be able to learn about landscape photography and other aspects of photography since my husband and I like to travel and take pictures of the scenery and the diverse cultures,” said the 61-year-old.

Through the Golden Photography workshop, OPPO is looking at solidifying its role as a technological frontrunner and continuously reinforces its dedication to creating experiences that bridge generations through innovation.

The workshop underscores the brand’s unwavering commitment to ensure that every individual, regardless of age, is inspired to harness the power of technology and innovation to unlock their fullest potential, one portrait photo at a time.

“The thing about senior citizens is that as we grow older, we feel ourselves becoming increasingly irrelevant, so when companies like OPPO conduct programmes like these, it draws us back in and we feel worthy and energised,” said another participant, 72-year-old Raveendran Subramaniam.

“We believe we are still capable of learning new things, and this is a eureka moment for us. I’m impressed with the level of openness to share and the hands-on sessions OPPO has put together for us. Engaging us senior citizens is a good initiative from OPPO and I hope there is continuity to such programs, as it helps keep us seniors updated in the increasingly digitalised world.”

More ways for senior citizen customers to enjoy exclusive rewards

In line with this ambition, OPPO offered each of the workshop participants smartphone voucher worth RM66, in conjunction with the recent 66th National Day celebrations.

Additionally, OPPO is making it easier for the senior citizens to enjoy exclusive rewards to enhance their digital lifestyle – from today to Sept 16, all customers, including the brand’s senior citizen customers, can look forward to after sales deals, including:

RM20 Touch ‘n Go recharge codes: Upon completion of mobile maintenance, OPPO users are invited to share their service experience and snap a photo with the national flag and share the image onto social media, tagging OPPO Care’s Facebook page. OPPO Care PWP discounts: During the campaign period, OPPO customers can enjoy OPPO Care PWP extra discounts (30% off) to purchase warranty for their new devices and accessories.

Users can walk into OPPO stores to consult the customer service centre staff and request for assistance in disinfecting and cleaning products during the campaign period.

Free original phone case: Seniors can enjoy an additional level of security for their smartphones and show off their personality with a complimentary original phone case* which can be obtained at OPPO’s customer service centres.

This dedicated space offers assistance for third-party software issues, daily maintenance and care, tailored specifically for seniors!

The upcoming session will be held on Sept 19, 11am to 12pm, at My OPPO Space, IOI City Mall in Putrajaya.

Zus Coffee brewing national pride

IF visitors step into Rumah Tangsi in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow between 10am and 6pm, they will enter a nostalgic setting, a scene that will remind them of a lively Malaysian village-of-sorts. It is the “Kampung Buatan Malaysia”, part of an event by local coffee chain Zus Coffee.

There, the air is filled with the rich aroma of coffee and the sound of community chatter. “It’s more than an event; it’s an experience – a symbol of unity and pride for Malaysian-made products. Kampung Buatan Malaysia (Malaysian-Made Village) is a part of the larger narrative; Zus Coffee’s “Buatan Malaysia” campaign.

The campaign aims to challenge misconceptions and champion the truth about the quality of Malaysian-made products,” said the company yesterday, during the event.

“As such, Zus Coffee hopes that with this campaign, we can contribute to a shared vision of a future where Malaysia is recognised for promise and potential,” said the company yesterday.

As visitors arrive at the iconic Rumah Tangsi tomorrow (Sept 9) – a short stroll away from the even-more-iconic Perdana Botanical Garden, they will be greeted first by the inviting aromas from “Lorong Makan Zus” located just outside. There, foodies can dive into a world of mouth-watering specialties, including both local and international flavours, brought to life by local brands.

Once inside, visitors find themselves in Pasar Zus, which stretches across both the ground and the first floor. This marketplace will set the stage for local brands to proudly display their unique products.

“At Kampung Buatan Malaysia, every corner and every stall tells a story, the story of Malaysians who dared to dream and build. The ‘Time Tunnel’ will not only showcase the growth of Zus Coffee but also highlight our cherished partners Boh, Inside Scoop, Julie’s and Farm Fresh,” the company added.

“Those partners, who share similar humble beginnings, have joined forces with us to create the products that Malaysians have come to know and love. The Time Tunnel will reflect not just the dedication of Malaysians to their home-grown brands, but also the power of collaboration and shared success in creating beloved Malaysian products.”

Meanwhile, the aroma of Zus Coffee’s latest innovation, the “Tarik Series”, fills the air at Kampung Buatan Malaysia. A tribute to the beloved Malaysian teh tarik, Zus Coffee said the series illustrates the nation’s capacity for creativity and evolution.

“It is a taste all Malaysians know and love, refreshed by the smoothness of Zus Coffee’s signature Velvet Creme, a delightful fusion that mirrors Malaysia itself – a country with a rich heritage continuously reshaping its future.”

The event promises more than interactive experiences; Zus Coffee says spectators can look forward to performances by celebrated local artists such as Syamel, Kaka Azraff and Andi Bernadee. Additionally, the event will showcase the richness of Malaysia’s cultural heritage with a mesmerising Tarian Muhibbah performance.

To further bring the concept and theme of the “Buatan Malaysia” campaign to life, Zus Coffee has crafted a compelling campaign video titled “Zus Coffee On Trial: Buatan Malaysia?”

Featuring familiar faces such as comedians Kavin Jay and Ryan Howlett, entrepreneur Arieff Yong, and the aforementioned Zus Coffee partners, the video showcases the pride in being Malaysian-made.

Collaborative chapters of the “Buatan Malaysia” campaign also feature partners like Boh for the Tarik Series and Inside Scoop for a limited edition ice cream inspired by Zus Coffee’s beverages. “These partnerships underscore the extraordinary achievements that can be accomplished when Malaysian brands unite and work together towards a common goal,” the company concluded.
