Seiko 5 Sports 55th anniversary Ultraseven Limited Edition

Seiko 5 Sports is pleased to introduce a collaboration model with Ultraseven, which marks the 55th anniversary of its broadcast. Based on a design that pays homage to the first Seiko 5 Sports watch, the colouring and design evoke the Ultra Guard that appears in the film. This anniversary model has “the official instruments of the Ultra Guard” as its theme and captures this unique worldview in every detail.

Design

The metallic texture of the dial and the design of the bezel are special specifications that follow the design of the original Seiko 5 Sports watch. By incorporating the colouring and capturing the worldview of the Ultra Guard into the watch, the timepiece is presented as if it were an official tool used by the Ultra Guard.

The strap is made of nylon material. It is specially designed with the Ultra Guard’s uniform colours and is marked with the words “Terrestrial Defense Force”.

Case Back

As a special feature of the collaboration model, the case back is marked with “Limited Edition” and a serial number, and the glass is marked with a silhouette of Ultraseven.

To commemorate the collaboration, the watch is enclosed in a special stainless steel material box with the Ultra Guard logo.

Make your heart your main focus in 2023

IT’S the beginning of the year when we have started making (and are trying to keep to!) our resolutions for a new year. For many, the events of 2022 may have caused them to realise that they should pay more attention to their health and wellbeing. And therefore, their New Year’s resolutions for 2023 might be the perfect opportunity to make changes that can have a real impact in their lives.

One of the best ways to ensure good health is to take better care of your heart. After all, the purpose of a New Year’s resolution is to improve your life. And improving your heart health can play a crucial role in achieving that goal.

It’s true that making real changes in your life can be challenging, especially at first. But with the right mindset, effort, and support, you can incorporate it your daily life. If you ease yourself into your new routine, you can improve the likelihood of sticking to your goals. If you are unsure, be sure to talk to your doctor about setting reasonable goals for your needs.

TIPS FOR A BETTER HEART

Eat a healthier diet. While this might sound like common sense, it is not always easy to stick to in the street food paradise that is our country with its food-filled festive seasons, like the upcoming Chinese New Year period. However, there is no need to completely cut out the majority of the dishes and cuisines available – as long as you follow a few simple rules.

-> 1. Cut down on saturated fat and cholesterol by limiting meat, whole-fat dairy products, and eggs. Eat more fish.

-> 2. Avoid trans fats in stick margarine, fried foods, and many snack and “junk” foods. Cut down on salt.

-> 3. Choose olive and canola oils.

-> 4.Load up on whole-grain products instead of refined grains and simple sugars. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

Exercise more often. You probably have heard this advice before, or even thought to yourself that you need to get into shape. However, this goes beyond signing up for a gym membership or training for a marathon. The simple fact is that any form of physical activity will do, as long as you are able to maintain it regularly. Adults should get at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity. To eventually reach this goal, start with a brief activity that can get your heart rate up for about 10 to 15 minutes. The goal is to work your way up to doing it for about five days a week. Biking, gardening, and a brisk walk are all enjoyable ways to hit this target.

Avoid tobacco products. This includes secondhand smoking as well. When it comes to the chemicals in tobacco smoke, they actively harm your blood cells and damage the function of your heart. This damage increases your risk for atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. From there, you could see a domino effect as the plaque builds up and causes more issues, potentially resulting in death.

Reduce stress. While this sounds like a no-brainer, this is probably one of the most important steps to maintaining your improved heart health. Figure out what makes you tense, then try to change what you can. Talk over your problems and worries. Get enough sleep. Do things that are fun, especially with people you like. Learn to appreciate and enjoy life’s many little pleasures.

TRACKING YOUR PROGRESS

In order to be sure that all these changes are truly making an impact on your heart health, make it a part of your daily routine to measure your blood pressure at home using a blood pressure monitor. To ensure that you get an accurate reading, it is important to remember a few simple rules:

Take readings at the same time each day. Your blood pressure can vary throughout the day, and the readings you take in the morning can be significantly different from your readings at night, especially after a day of activity.

Ensure you are well rested. Wait for at least 30 minutes after exercising, eating, smoking, drinking alcohol or bathing before taking readings, as these activities can affect your blood pressure. You should also sit quietly with both feet on the ground for at least 5 minutes before taking your reading.

Take multiple readings for better accuracy. Each time you measure, take two or three readings one minute apart and record the results, which can provide a timely and more accurate assessment of your ongoing health status.

Taylor’s enriches digital talent pool with futuristic focused programmes

Taylor’s University launches Malaysia’s first-of-its-kind programmes, the Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design (Honours) and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sustainable Digital Construction Management, to produce future-ready graduates to meet the demand for digital talent.

Offered under the Faculty of Innovation and Technology, the programmes are designed to nurture students with soft skills such as critical thinking, effective communication, creativity, and adaptability to greatly boost their success in the working environment.

Taylor’s University Faculty of Innovation & Technology Executive Dean, Professor Dr David Asirvatham said the innovative programmes complement Southeast Asia’s world-class extended reality (XR) learning centre, Taylor’s Virtual Online Future Technology & Extended Reality (VORTEX XR) Lab.

“The XR facility integrates augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR), with an investment value of more than RM1.2 million, providing access to the latest real-life extended reality equipment and specialised skills for students.

“This type of latest technology is useful for teaching and learning content creation as well as for ideation, designing, and prototyping immersive experiences – in line with the varsity’s ongoing XR efforts.

With the growth of immersive technologies, Taylor’s aims to transform its curriculum and pedagogy by embedding tech skills and modules into degrees,” said Professor Dr David.

The VORTEX XR Lab supports all schools from hospitality and architecture to design, law, communication, medicine, culinary arts, and others at Taylor’s.

Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design (Honours)

The Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design is designed to answer current world demand for technological advancement. While engaged through immersive learning, students will learn the theoretical foundations of spatial design alongside immersive technology and automation content for indoor and outdoor environments.

The global research and advisory firm Gartner predicted that 70% of enterprises, especially the retail sector will be experimenting with immersive technologies for consumers.

Thus, graduates are not only needed to fulfil Malaysia’s 2050 vision for highly functional living that is driven by immersive technology but to meet the demand for such skills.

The programme offers two specialisations, Smart Homes Design and Smart Environment Design, and students have three learning track options to choose from – conventional internship, work-based learning experience with industry partners such as FrameMotion Studio Sdn Bhd, Virtual X Malaysia, Ministry XR, HONOR and IMT Smart Home, or the technopreneurship mode that provides students with an opportunity to start a business with mentorship by Taylor’s University’s entrepreneur start-up incubator, BizPod.

The Smart Homes Design specialisation produces designers to create a personalised smart living space that can operate automatically, catering to individual needs and living styles, while the Smart Environment Design specialisation designs experience to change the way we interact with products and consume information using spatial technologies.

According to Din Tan Chin Seng, Programme Director for the Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design, the programme focuses on producing digitally design-savvy designers, technologists and techpreneurs to stimulate immersive spatial experiences of urban spaces, performances, museums, galleries, and many more.

The discipline combines digital technology and traditional spatial design principles to improve the ways we interact with our surroundings as we have been using the environment as a medium to promote play, engagement, and communication.

“Today, brands and businesses are eager to take advantage of spatial-based technologies to engage their customers with interactive spatial experiences for marketing or social benefits.

The design market size is expected to gain market growth with a compound annual growth rate of 7.9%, reaching 214,860 million by 2025.

Hence, there is a growing demand for spatial designers who are able to design with interaction and space in mind,” added Din.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sustainable Digital Construction Management

As for the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Digital Construction Management, the programme is well-mapped, to align with the competency standard and educational framework of the Construction Industry Development Board and Chartered Institute of Building.

The degree aims to prepare graduates to address the challenges of sustainability and digital transformation in the construction industry.

The programme is co-led by industry leaders and partners such as Eco World Development Group Berhad and Green Quarter Sdn Bhd, ensuring hands-on practical experience in the built environment and industrial relevance on the curriculum developed.

Students will have two learning track options to choose from – conventional internship or a year-long work-based learning experience with reputable industry partners to prepare graduates for the local and global Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry.

The programme offers two specialisations, Green Construction and Smart Construction.

While Smart Construction modules introduce technology that can improve construction management practices using the Internet of Things, Advanced Building Information Modelling (BIM) and extended reality in construction, Green Construction promotes energy conservation, waste reduction, and recycling emphasising sustainability approaches.

The specialisation for this new programme is aligned with the Construction 4.0 Strategic Plan 2021–2025 presented by the Construction Industry Development Board and is pertinent to Construction 4.0, as green businesses will contribute approximately 1.5% by 2030 to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), equivalent to RM60 billion.

According to Dr Sujatavani Gunasagaran, Programme Director of the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Digital Construction Management, the curriculum specifically tackles the BIM for construction management and planning, as students need to be equipped with the digital skills to be at the forefront, to support the digitalised construction industry.

Along with helping students embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the programme also incorporates digital technology like laser scanning, drones, artificial intelligence, AR, and 3D printing.

“An Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) will work closely to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas, between the board members to ensure industrial relevance are kept.

“They will also provide advice and assistance on curriculum development according to the latest needs, trends, and employment skills of graduates to become a Green Building Construction Manager, Sustainability Analyst, Digital Technologist, or Smart Technologist among others,” added Dr Sujatavani.

“The degree programme will also see adjunct lecturers who are local and global industry experts, invited to conduct classes.

“The blistering pace of digital economy will open up more job opportunities, and while digital transformation is less about technology and more about people today, the ability to develop the next generation of skills, closing the gap between talent supply and demand by introducing futuristic focused programmes is essential.

“Such graduates then accelerate the nation’s digital economy for business continuity, recovery, and resilience,” explained Professor Dr David.

SEEN FESTIVAL KL 2023 tickets go on sale Jan 13!

The ultimate K-pop experience is coming your way! Get ready to see and be seen by NCT DREAM, WayV, KARD and ALICE as they take the stage at SEEN FESTIVAL in Kuala Lumpur 2023, organised by CM Live, on Saturday, 28 January 2023 from 6:00pm onwards at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil.

Secure your spot to catch the start-studded groups performing live when tickets to the festival go on sale this 13 January. SEEN FESTIVAL in Kuala Lumpur 2023 will feature a T-shaped stage for fans to get up close with the idols and feel the exhilarating moment when their eyes meet.

Turning up the mood in the lead-up to the festival, the four groups have each recorded a special video to convey their New Year greetings as they look forward to seeing their fans in Malaysia very soon.

Dreams are coming true for fans of NCT DREAM as the boy group will perform at the festival. Made up of Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung, they debuted under SM Entertainment in 2016 with the digital single Chewing Gum and turned heads with My First and Last and other hits. NCT DREAM made K-pop history when they became the youngest group to achieve million-seller status with their first full-length album Hot Sauce.

Festival-goers can also look forward to seeing WayV, which stands for “We Are Your Vision”, a boy group formed by SM Entertainment. They debuted in 2019 with the digital single album The Vision and bagged the Best New Asian Artist Award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards that same year. Following their appearance at SMTOWN Live 2022, they made a comeback with their recently released fourth mini album Phantom.

Also performing at the festival is the four-member co-ed group KARD, an abbreviation of different “cards” assigned to each member – BM with the “King” card, J.seph the “Ace”, Somin the “Black Joker” and Jiwoo the “Colour Joker”. They debuted in late 2016 with the single Oh NaNa and subsequently made waves with Don’t Recall which gained huge popularity not only throughout Asia but also the Western world, denoting their star power across borders.

Joining the festival lineup is the 7-member girl group ALICE which consists of Do-A, Yeonje, Yukyung, Sohee, Karin, EJ and Chaejeong who symbolise heart, wind, water, sky, forest, star and moon, respectively. ALICE made their debut in 2017 with the release of their first mini album WE, first and is known for their range of hits including Pow Pow, Summer Dream, JACKPOT, Power Of Love and DANCE ON.

Jom Cha enters strategic agreement for expansion with Aeon Big

KUALA LUMPUR: Farm Fresh Bhd and its new venture into the milk tea space via its wholly owned subsidiary, Farm Fresh Jomcha Sdn Bhd, has reached a milestone with the signing of strategic agreement with AEON Big (M) Sdn Bhd (AEON BiG) to open a new outlet at the retailer’s Wangsa Maju store.

The Jom Cha brand was launched in August 2022 and the partnership with AEON BiG is in line with its strategy to expand rapidly nationwide over the next 3 years.

Jom Cha currently can be found at 15 outlets across Malaysia in popular shopping malls such as One Utama and Genting Premium Outlet and they aim to penetrate hypermarkets via AEON BiG, given the strong presence of the Farm Fresh brand within the retailer.

Enjoying a celebration of food and festivity

The Lunar New Year Fair is traditionally held a few days before Lunar New Year, where crowds come together to buy decorations, ingredients, gifts, and food for the big Chinese New Year celebration. Cheers to Bold Beginnings

LIFE’S small wins are often left unacknowledged in the daily hustle of chasing after tomorrow. This Chinese New Year (CNY), Tiger inspires fans to take a pause and celebrate past moments to re-energise their inner Tiger for an even bolder tomorrow with the launch of its ‘Cheers to Bold Beginnings’ CNY campaign last week.

To kick it up a notch amongst Malaysian fans, Tiger introduced ‘Gan Gan Chong’, which means the spirit to break through, as a blessing of boldness this CNY.

Bringing this blessing to life, Tiger partnered with three homegrown artists – Dato Maw, Han Xiao Ai and Danny Lee – to create a CNY song and music video, entitled The Boldest Chase.

The Boldest Chase is one of a kind that invites consumers to interact with the content and win exclusive prizes. Celebrate a blooming Chinese New Year at Sunway Malls

TO usher in the Chinese New Year (CNY), Sunway Malls collectively launched their unifying theme of ‘Blooming Happiness’.

The celebration at Sunway Velocity Mall on 5 January 2023 began with a welcome speech by the CEO of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks, H.C Chan followed by representatives from Sunway Malls officially launching their campaign with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The event ended with a lion dance performance. There were not only two lions but two baby lions that were part of the lion dance blessing, as the theme personifies blooming happiness, multiplying the joy of the festive with everyone.

The lion dance performance was followed by a musical group of three instrumental performers, who serenaded the guests with classical Chinese music.

Another feature that makes the L10s Ultra vacuum a dream is that it automatically updates these obstacles onto the floor map seen in the app, labels the rooms in your home and cleans based on the type of flooring.

With a large 2.5L clean water tank, the mop can wipe out dirt and grime on any surface such as wood, tile, vinyl or hard floors and has been designed to cover up to 200 sqm (2,152 sq. ft) of the home. It comes with dual rotary mops with replaceable microfibre mop pads that spin at 180 RPM under firm pressure to thoroughly scrub floors with the adequate mixture of water and solution without scratching or damaging the floor surface. The water and cleaning solution are replenished automatically with precise ratio at the base station after each cleaning session when it runs low.

The mop pads can also be raised automatically up to 7mm from the floor for different needs. For example, after mopping, the L10s Ultra will automatically raise its mop pads when returning to the base station to prevent the dragging of dirty mop pads across the cleaned floor. Once back at the base station, it will automatically wash the mops to get rid of the dirt by immersing the mop pads into water and spin at a high speed against grooves in the removable base plate to dislodge dirt. Once cleaned, the mops will be dried with hot air in under two hours to help prevent odour, mildew and bacterial growth.

For homes with carpets or rugs, the L10s Ultra is able to auto detect the carpet then automatically raise the mop pads so your carpets will not get wet. Additionally, it comes with a powerful 5,300Pa suction that can automatically detect between carpet and floor, adjusting its suction power accordingly and ensuring carpets are thoroughly deep cleaned. The vacuum is fitted with a bristleless rubber brush that is specifically optimised for carpet cleaning by stirring up the dust hidden inside and also to prevent hairs getting tangled in the brush.

All these dream come true features can be easily controlled and managed via the Dreamehome mobile app as well as the Mi Home app and can even be controlled with Siri, Alexa or Google Assistant. In the app, users will be able to tailor their cleaning needs and programme the robot accordingly based on their cleaning preferences.
