Christmas cheer for S’gor man winning Magnum 4D jackpot RM14m using permutation system

KUALA LUMPUR: It was indeed a Christmas to remember for one lucky 56-year-old businessman from Bukit Jalil as he scooped the Magnum 4D Jackpot Grand Prize of a whooping RM14 million on Christmas eve.

He said winning the fortune was truly unexpected, and it brought him some Christmas cheer when he found out he struck the Magnum 4D Jackpot.

He placed his bets at the Magnum 4D outlet in Sungai Pelek, Sepang, as he was visiting a friend there.

“It doesn’t matter where I am, if I see a Magnum 4D outlet, I will usually try my luck. I have been an ardent supporter of Magnum 4D for the past 30 years, and I feel that my luck is with Magnum 4D. It is always welcoming when I step into the classy Magnum 4D outlet”.

“I usually have my strategy to play the 4D Jackpot game. When the Jackpot amount hits RM5 million and above, I will place my bets using Permutation Play (“Pau”). This way, I can multiply my chances of buying all possible digit combinations in all their different orders. I feel it is fun to come up with my lucky numbers or any numbers that appear in my mind,” the winner shared.

The winning numbers 3719 (1st Prize) and 3787 (2nd Prize) were the lucky winner’s numbers. 3719 was a permutation of his old car number, and 3787 was a random lucky number that caught his attention on that day he placed his bets.

“I would say I do have my luck and fortune with Magnum 4D as I have won a few million before this, but of course, this will be my biggest jackpot winning. During the results day, I eagerly watched the live results on the Magnum 4D website. The moment I saw both numbers displayed among the top numbers, I was in disbelief, and I kept checking the results several times. This “big” win feels amazing. I feel lucky, feel that somewhat I was chosen, and there is a huge feeling of relief,“ the businessman added.

When asked how he would spend his prize money, the winner said that he will enjoy his life by ensuring all his financials are in order, then, celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year with great happiness and prosperity.

Previously, we had another 4D Jackpot-1 winner from Sibu Salim, Sarawak, who won RM7.9 million on 19 November 2022.

“We would like to congratulate all winners and hope that the prize money will bring upon positive changes to their lives. It is easy to play with Magnum 4D,” said a spokesperson from Magnum 4D.

HEINEKEN Cares steps up to improve community food security

Heineken Malaysia Berhad (HEINEKEN Malaysia) today launched its HEINEKEN Cares 2022 programme at the Sungei Way Brewery. Transitioning from short-term food aid, the brewer is collaborating with seven non-government organisations (NGOs) and community partners to support communities in building capacity for long-term food security. As part of their commitment, HEINEKEN Malaysia pledged to deliver over 600,000 meals to empower local communities across Malaysia to start and maintain their own sustainable food sources. In tandem with this commitment, the brewer also provided a platform for its partners to showcase their community work at a mini exhibition.

At the launch event, Roland Bala, Managing Director of HEINEKEN Malaysia said, “At the height of the pandemic, we saw how vulnerable communities were in need of food aid. Responding to the call for help, we launched HEINEKEN Cares in 2021, a social impact programme to connect our employee’s well-being at work with a purpose to support local communities, giving them the opportunity to participate in meaningful CSR initiatives. Together, our One Strong Winning Team, alongside our NGO and community partners, helped create a positive impact in our local communities.”

HEINEKEN Cares saw great success in 2021. For every 1,000 steps taken by a HEINEKEN Malaysia employee, the brewer committed one meal to a person in need. The programme delivered 150,000 meals to vulnerable communities across the nation in six months. This was further scaled up during the December 2021 floods, when HEINEKEN Cares topped up an additional 100,000 meals and care packages for affected communities. As a result, the programme delivered a cumulative total of 250,000 meals in 2021.

Taking it a step further, HEINEKEN Cares 2022 announced a renewed vision to transform lives by improving social sustainability through food security. Once again linking employee wellness with a community purpose, the programme increased their 2022 goal, calling on its employees to step up and achieve 200 million steps cumulatively from November 2022 to March 2023. This year, HEINEKEN Cares increases its contributions by committing to providing three meals for every 1,000 steps made by an employee, with a goal to deliver more than 600,000 meals for vulnerable communities across Malaysia. The NGOs and community partners collaborating with HEINEKEN Cares 2022 include The Lost Food Project, Epic, and PWD Smart Farmability, whose projects are focused in supporting communities in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as Soroptimist International Region of Malaysia, Hopes Malaysia, Hope Place Kuching, and Kupikupifm, whose projects are supporting communities in Sabah and Sarawak.

In her opening speech, Renuka Indrarajah, HEINEKEN Malaysia’s Corporate Affairs and Legal Director shared, “As part of our social sustainability commitment, we aim to make a positive impact on Malaysian communities. With HEINEKEN Cares, every step counts, and every meal matters. This year, we want to move beyond providing short-term relief to communities in need and take it a step further by empowering local communities to start and maintain a sustainable food supply.”

“By joining forces with HEINEKEN Cares, our NGOs and community partners will be working on projects such as setting up small-scale community farms and satellite aquaponic systems, establishing and leveraging on existing alternative water systems to support these community farms, as well as distributing food provisions to those in need,“ Renuka added.

At the mini exhibition, seven NGOs and community partners showcased their work alongside HEINEKEN Malaysia in building sustainable food sources throughout Malaysia. Highlights of their community work are as follows.

●The Lost Food Project redistributes rescued surplus goods and other essential items to those in need in the Klang Valley and Johor Bahru area.

●Epic provides sustainable water supply and farming programmes to the communities in Kampung Orang Asli Gurney and Kampung Orang Asli Sg Kelubi in Hulu Selangor.

●PWD Smart Farmability builds aquaponic satellite farms which help provide fresh, organic and nutritious meat and vegetables for welfare centres across seven regions in Peninsular Malaysia,

●Soroptimist International Region of Malaysia provides alternative water systems and organic farms in Long Tanyit, Belaga, Sarawak and Kg Gana, Kota Marudu, Sabah, whilst building capacity to empower women in finding alternative sources of income.

●Hopes Malaysia improves the existing gravity water system for homes and farms in Kg. Pinolobuh, Kota Belud, Sabah, empowering families to sustainably farm for lasting food security

●Hope Place Kuching channels basic food aid and necessities to the underprivileged in Sarawak to improve their health and livelihood.

●Kupikupifm maintains alternative water systems for rural villages in Sabah and continues working to connects systems to encourage the adoption of community farming.

For the first time, apart from contributing their steps, employees in HEINEKEN Malaysia also have the chance to play a role in community work through volunteer opportunities. Through the collaboration, NGOs and community partners are providing HEINEKEN Malaysia employees with a first-hand experience on the ground, further inspiring employees to give back to those in need.

All employees were also encouraged to step up and volunteer with the seven NGO partners, committing to support the various food security projects across Malaysia.

Taylor’s University boosts digital capacity in its degree programmes

Traditional university degrees are being challenged, with graduates and even the business community growing more and more concerned about whether these degrees match what is required for today’s job market and society.

“Recognising the future job market, we take coordinated action by introducing innovative degrees. We believe it is vital to produce industry-ready digital talents who are well-equipped with the right skill sets required to thrive in the global digital workforce,” said Taylor’s University Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer, Professor Dr Pradeep Nair.

To successfully adopt a digital-first mindset, Taylor’s believes it is essential to improve business processes and drive greater customer and shareholder value.

Technology is now the growth engine for businesses and tech talent around the world, and the institutions that produce them are the fuel.

The demand for tech talents has only grown as a result of rising digitisation, remote working trends, and the rapid pace of technological change.

According to the recently released Tech Job report from career marketplace Dice, job postings for tech-focused roles globally are up 45% from January to June 2022 and up 52% compared to the same period in 2021.

Non-traditional information and communications technology sectors such as engineering, financial services, designing, renewables and the environment are among the few industries embarking on accelerating digitalisation and have seen to be hiring digital talents in recent years.

While uncovering digital talent opportunities year-over-year, Taylor’s University has launched multiple tech-driven degree programmes for future graduates to excel in their career fields, aligned with their passion and market needs.

Taylor’s is committed to producing highly skilled and employable graduates to close the digital talent gap.

Among Taylor’s newly introduced programmes in 2020, are its Bachelor in Accounting (Fintech)(Honours), Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Robotic Design and Development, and the innovative Bachelor in Fashion Design Technology (Honours) programme.

The Bachelor in Accounting (Fintech) programme is designed to give students a comprehensive look into accounting and financial technology. Students also have access to Taylor’s Trading Room with Bloomberg terminals and so have the opportunity to obtain a Bloomberg Certification.

With endorsement from the Malaysia Robotics and Automation Society, Robotic Design and Development, Taylor’s students also have the opportunity to go on a year-long industry placement for a work-based learning experience.

Finally, Taylor’s Bachelor in Fashion Design Technology is designed in a unique format where the programme combines standard design and sewing curriculum with technological components, in both learning experience and module contents.

The programme boasts illustrious partners such as Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) and renowned respected fashion brands.

The learning journey at Taylor’s is well supported by top-notch facilities on campus grounds.

The most recently launched state-of-the-art laboratory, Taylor’s Virtual Online Future Technology & Extended Reality (VORTEX XR LAB) on campus is to introduce students to the latest technology.

The facility has access to the latest real-life extended reality equipment and specialised skills, useful for teaching and learning as well as for ideation, designing, and prototyping immersive experiences.

The lab supports all faculties from hospitality and architecture to medicine and culinary arts.

“With VORTEX, all students across the university and college will be exposed to immersive technology. This is part of our journey in transforming the curriculum and pedagogy to embed tech skills and modules into our degrees, to prepare our graduates to work in jobs of the future,“ added Professor Dr Pradeep.

“Many of the fastest growing jobs and predicted future ones are mainly driven by immersive technology, and while we have taken note of green businesses that will contribute approximately 1.5% by 2030 to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product or equivalent to RM60 billion, we have decided to introduce two digitally led programmes such as Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design (Honours) and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sustainable Digital Construction Management early next year,” he said.

Global research and advisory firm Gartner predicted that 70% of enterprises especially the retail sector will be experimenting with immersive technologies for consumers by 2022.

Thus, graduates are not only needed to fulfil Malaysia’s 2050 vision for highly functional living that is driven by immersive technology but are also needed to meet the demand for such skills.

The Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design is the first undergraduate degree of its kind in Malaysia designed to meet current world demands on technological advancement.

Through immersive learning, students are exposed to the theoretical foundations of spatial design alongside interactive technology and automation content for interior and exterior environments.

By offering two specialisations, Smart Home Design and Smart Environment Design students have three learning track options to choose from – conventional internship, work-based learning experience with industry partners such as FrameMotion Studio, Virtual X and Ministry XR, or the technopreneurship mode that provides students with an opportunity to start a business with mentorship.

As for the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Digital Construction Management, the programme is well-mapped to align with the competency standard and educational framework by the Construction Industry Development Board and Chartered Institute of Building.

The degree aims to prepare graduates to address the challenges of sustainability in construction.

The programme is co-led by industry leaders and partners such as Eco World Development Group Berhad and Green Quarter Sdn Bhd ensuring hands-on practical experience in the built environment.

Taylor’s new programmes will be open for its first intake of students in March 2023. More information on the innovative programmes can be found at https://bit.ly/TaylorsNewProgrammes.

Budweiser heralds the return of Fifa World Cup with global campaign declaring “The World is Yours to Take”

BUDWEISER, an Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) brand and FIFA World Cup™ Sponsor, has debuted a global rallying-cry for fans: “The World is Yours to Take.”

In partnership with international football icons Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Raheem Sterling, Budweiser will launch its FIFA World Cup campaign in more than 70 countries, the most in the brand’s 146-year history.

The campaign is anchored by a cinematic film featuring the athletes and a diverse group of fans making their way through the player’s tunnel with conviction toward the FIFA World Cup pitch.

The spot cleverly uses the tunnel as a metaphor to connect fans to the emotion and anticipation the players feel before the match, inspiring them to take the next step in their journey towards pursuing their dreams.

The soundtrack of the campaign is a reimagining of the iconic Tears for Fears’ anthem “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” capturing the passion and enthusiasm fans will feel during this year’s tournament.

“As sponsor of the FIFA World Cup for more than 30 years, we wanted to capture the infectious global energy of football fans everywhere to encourage people to find the conviction to go for greatness, no matter what the journey to get there might look like,” said Budweiser Global Vice President of Marketing, Todd Allen.

“Determination to overcome challenges in the name of achieving greatness, like we’ve seen countless times from Messi, Neymar Jr., and Sterling, is an inspiration to us and to fans around the world. We hope our new campaign reminds fans that no matter what stands in your way, the world is yours to take.”

In this global campaign, Budweiser has created new avenues for fans to experience the FIFA World Cup both on the ground and at home. There are also limited-edition official Budweiser FIFA World Cup Cold-Activated Colour-Changing Aluminium Cups, Footballs, Openers, Long Sleeve Shirt to look out for.

Additionally, Budweiser will tap into the global scale of AB InBev DTC & B2B platforms by delivering cold beer to fans in under 30 minutes (in select markets where available) before match kick-off and excite retail partners by creating unique activations through BEES in over 1 million locations where Budweiser is sold.

The Budverse x FIFA World Cup NFT Collection will be available to consumers of legal drinking age via two different token types at launch – the Budweiser Live Scoreboard and the Budweiser World Cup 360 Experience. To learn more about the Budverse x FIFA World Cup Collection, visit Budweiser.com/nft.

The campaign film was developed in partnership with creative agency Wieden+Kennedy and is an evolution of Budweiser’s new “Yours to Take” platform launched earlier this year.

Sans Wellness Celebrates 22nd Anniversary

Sans Wellness, which is Malaysia’s No. 1 Naturopathic Wellness centre, has appointed Malaysia’s badminton queen Goh Liu Ying as its brand ambassador in conjunction with the company’s 22nd anniversary celebration. Established in 2000, Sans Wellness has over 22 years of experience in helping clients to improve their health and vitality. Its trademark therapy, Genkilogy, is based on five major principles of purifying the body; Genki-Physio circulation to clear the qi (life breadth), blood and lymph; healthy lifestyles; sufficient nutrients; and maintaining a balanced mind, body and spirit. Combining the best of traditional Chinese medicine and Western physiotherapy, this natural therapy unleashes the body’s meridian points, readjusts postures and strengthens muscles to relieve the body from pain, numbness and other discomforts. Sans Wellness founder and CEO Dr Grace Tan San Chin said her company’s natural therapy services are equivalent to comprehensive health management.

“They include the use of light therapy to activate parts of the body with blockages, complemented with a special physical therapy to clear the meridian or acupuncture points. By relieving these acupuncture points, the qi, blood and lymphatic fluid will flow and function more smoothly. At the same time, the body’s parasympathetic nerves are reactivated. Tense spots in the body are calmed with gentle massages to relieve the muscles.” Genkilogy natural therapy has served more than 100,000 clients who sought treatments for various sub-health conditions such as shoulder and neck pain, headache, insomnia, tinnitus and hormonal imbalances. This therapy is particularly effective for the treatment of stiff shoulders and cervical vertebrae (neck bone), which are common problems faced by many modern people. The results that come after the Genkilogy natural therapy are deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Currently, there are 11 Sans Wellness centres operating in the Klang Valley, Johor Bahru and the state of Pahang in Malaysia, as well as in Indonesia. With recognitions from more than 20 local and international bodies, it is also a highly recommended brand by domestic consumer groups. Looking to the future, Dr Grace Tan said: “Sans Wellness will continue to develop the company’s business model, enter new areas and achieve new milestones.”

In tandem with its corporate development, the company is launching a series of events and distributing gifts to celebrate its 22nd anniversary in various branches. Malaysian badminton queen Goh Liu Ying, who won many local and international competitions, has been invited to become the company’s brand ambassador. In badminton mixed doubles, Goh Liu Ying was once the third highest ranked player in the world. She has competed in the Olympic Games three times and won a silver medal. Having won many well-known tournaments locally and abroad, Goh demonstrated the positive energy of a woman, which is in line with Sans Wellness’ commitment to promoting comprehensive women’s health preservation. “At Sans Wellness, we believe that Goh Liu Ying is the most suitable person to represent our brand image,” Dr Grace Tan said. “Moreover, Goh Liu Ying trusts our Genkilogy’s comprehensive health management technique to relieve all the health-related issues that she has been facing over the years.”

Even though she is a top-tier athlete and badminton player, Goh Liu Ying has been injured many times due to her long term sporting tours and intensive training. Coming under pressure to bring glory for the country and facing other people’s high expectations have also affected her health. Like many modern women who have to deal with a busy life and social pressure daily, Goh Liu Ying has problems such as persistent muscle pain, insomnia and menstrual cramps. Fortunately, after receiving San Wellness’ Genkilogy comprehensive health treatment, which unleashes her meridians and acupuncture points, Goh Liu Ying no longer has to put up with stiff and sore neck and shoulders. San Wellness’ pure essential oils also helped to relax and calm her nerves. All of this made Goh Liu Ying to realise the importance of health maintenance. As the brand ambassador for Sans Wellness natural health and beauty therapy centre, Goh Liu Ying and the company are working together to promote a healthy lifestyle for more people to enjoy. Today, allow Sans Wellness and Goh Liu Ying as well as everyone else to embrace a healthy, revitalised, blooming and natural beauty.

Lighting up Christmas in every way

KUALA LUMPUR: When it comes to annual holiday traditions, the Christmas tree lighting signifies the beginning of the festivities and the advent of what is to be expected. This year, EQ, Kuala Lumpur continues its annual tradition, signifying the start of their Yuletide celebrations. Held on 15 November 2022, at the grand lobby of the hotel, the 30-foot evergreen tree was festooned with baubles and trimmings to match the understated elegance of the property, with bronze, rose gold and gilded ornaments reflecting the proverbial light of hope that suffuses the Christmas season. The celebratory occasion was further added to by carollers, canapes and all-round Christmas cheer, as members of the hotel management team, guests, and friends of the property gathered to officially declare the start of the year-end festivities. Along with the lighting was another of EQ’s long-standing traditions: that of the Angel Tree Initiative. An annual custom since the hotel opened its doors in 2019, the Angel Tree was designed as an avenue with which guests could share festive cheer with the less fortunate. To this end, along with the decorations on the Christmas tree, there are also tags bearing the names of children from care homes specially chosen by the hotel. Guests are at liberty to remove as many tags as they wish, purchase gifts appropriate to the individual children, and hand the presents to EQ staff who will ensure the tokens are delivered to the respective recipients. This year, EQ has partnered with Home of Peace, a shelter for at risk, impoverished and abandoned girls, based in Old Klang Road; and Shelter Home, for the Angel Tree Initiative. Gerard Walker, General Manager of EQ said, “Even before Corporate Social Responsibility became a buzzword, EQ have always desired to remember the less privileged among us. The Angel Tree is a tradition that ensures we realise that while we are in celebration mode, there are others who may not have that opportunity. By our gift-giving, we include them, albeit in a small way, in our festivities.”

Holiday spirit 2022

Fueled by the optimism of Christmas, EQ, Kuala Lumpur has rolled out a literal cornucopia of treats, festive events and edible gifts for a blow-out year-end celebration. There will also be a customising hampers service provided, which will help guests plan the perfect Christmas gift for their families, friends, relatives or corporate patrons. Free Tealive lunch packs for 5,000 frontliners

PETALING JAYA: After giving away 10,000 cups of Kopi Merdeka last August, Southeast Asia’s top lifestyle tea brand Tealive is now giving free lunch to 5,000 frontliners to thank them for their services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Now that we are easing into the endemic phase, let us remember the sacrifices of our front-liners, our heroes in health and medical sectors, security forces and all uniformed services, who have responded to our call for help when the nation went into lockdown back in March 2020,” said Bryan Loo, founder and CEO of Loob Holding Sdn Bhd.

He said as the year drew to a close, the Tealive team decided it was time to give these front-line men and women a treat as well as to remind Malaysians not to let our guard down.

“Tealive as a proudly-Malaysian brand has continued on our growth journey despite the pandemic. Since we now have all-day meals, we thought it would be a good gesture to offer our front-liners a free lunch.

“So, come noon time on Monday Dec 5, any front-liner can go to any of our 257 shoplot outlets and get a free lunch,” he said.

These customers only have to identify themselves as front-liners and say “Yes! Tealive Got Food” three times and they will be served a Tom Yam Prawn Mac&Cheese lunch for free. Each participating outlet will serve up to 20 sets that day from noon.

Besides Mac&Cheese, Tealive also has a new all-day meal menu comprising Grilled Chicken Western Gravy Rice, Grilled Chicken Aren Glazed Rice, Buttermilk Popcorn Chicken Rice and Meletop Beef Rice, now available all-day. These sets come at RM15.90 each ala carte and RM13.90, when bought with any drink.

Loo said Tealive was staying true to its brand promise of “Always More Than Tea” and it now has a wide range of speciality coffees, signature Toastea™ and artisanal food that are suitable for different times of the day.

“We have recently extended the menu into these four rice dishes, Mac&Cheese, muffin and fried snacks and we have value meals too.

“As a home-grown brand, we’re grateful for the support of all Malaysians as we reach the top among lifestyle tea brands within Asean countries. We’re proud to carry the Malaysian flag across continents with the latest being North America after gaining a foothold in Europe, Africa and Australia.

“Thanks to loyal Tealive fans, we’ve reached the 800th store milestone in Malaysia this year and we wish to continue pushing ourselves to do better. From now on, we want our customers to know that ‘Tealive Got Food’ and it’s all-day which means ‘Tealive Got Lunch’ and ‘Tealive Got Dinner’ too,” he said.
